Asia Genesis Asset Management is a Singapore-based Global Macro Hedge Fund Manager.
Led by Founder, Managing Partner Chua Soon Hock, and industry veterans James Loh and Ronnie Wu as non-executive advisors, the team is committed to build a consistent top-performing hedge fund business. James Loh is a leading figure in Asia Pacific banking and treasury business where he held senior roles in UBS and Barclays while Ronnie Wu is a pioneer in the Asian fund-of-hedge funds industry.
Soon Hock founded Asia Genesis in 1999 where he was the CIO of its flagship fund, Japan Macro Fund, an Asia-focused global macro fund. Since its inception in March 2000, the Fund had returned a net 18.7% annually and had been a top-performing global macro fund that made money consistently with low downside volatility over its track record.
As dedicated craftsmen, our portfolio managers determinedly pursue to achieve the best risk-adjusted returns among all macro managers in the world, as exemplified by the past results of Japan Macro Fund from 2001 to 2009.
The Barclay Group had also ranked Japan Macro Fund as the number one Macro Hedge Fund globally on a risk-adjusted returns basis for 1-year and 3-year categories for several consecutive years through bull, range and bear markets, even achieving 11.0% net in Yen terms during the 2008 Global Financial Crisis, while being a liquidity provider to some of its investors who redeemed their investments. In 2009, the Fund was up net 24.0% by August with Assets under Management of about US$800 million upon Fund's closure on a high note.
